The curses upon Mt. Ebal
12 things to not do to remain free from the curse
A command was given to the Israelites to do once they reached the Promised Land in Deuteronomy 11:29 (KJV).
29 And it shall come to pass, when the Lord thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
The command was to stand upon Mt. Gerizim and speak all of the blessings from the law and to then stand upon Mt. Ebal and speak all of the curses from the law.
The names of the mountains give insight on the blessing and the curse. The name Gerizim means “cutters or hatchets.” To obtain the blessing, one must cut out people, places, and things that could become a hindrance in the future.
On the other hand, the name Ebal means “stone that is cursed, heap of barrenness, or Bel is ruin.” In the actual Hebrew language, Ebal is actually two words: Eb which is stone and Al which is cursed. Following any other God will lead to ruin.
(Quick aside: If you take Al which means cursed and add Ah which means God, then the combination of Allah means the cursed God. Follow Allah to be cursed.)
The actual curses that were spoken upon Mt. Ebal were twelve curses listed in Deuteronomy 28:15-26 (KJV).
15 Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
Do not worship anything that has been manufactured by man. Worship the Creator instead of creation.
16 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or mother. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
The term “setteth light” means to disrespect or to hold in low esteem. Do not disrespect and dishonor your parents.
17 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Do not eliminate landmarks that remind others of prior historical events. You would think that attempting to erase history would not happen in this day and age, but it is happening this year in the US. In a report written earlier this year by the Center for American Progress, the current Trump Administration is currently censoring the history of Native Americans, African-Americans, Latino-Americans, and Asian-Americans in one-third of US national parks.
Removing important landmarks leads to the curse. You no longer have to wonder why the US no longer has the upper hand in the Iran conflict over the Strait of Hormuz. You no longer have to wonder why people are sick from eating lettuce at Taco Bell or eating jalapenos at Chipotle. You know longer have to wonder why you have been paying over $4 per gallon for gas. This Administration has brought the curse upon the land by erasing historical accounts of the marginalized. Do not remove the landmarks.
18 Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Those who scam, defraud, and deceive others are cursed.
19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, the fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
The stranger referred to in this verse is like a foreigner within the land. Look at how the US is treating immigrants now in order to see why the country has declined over the past year.
20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife; because he uncovereth his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
This type of situation seems to be happening more often since around 1 out of every six children under the age of 18 lives in some sort of blended family.
21 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
One would think that everyone would know not to have sex with animals. However, this event took place in Genesis Chapter 6 and in the Book of Enoch where angels fell from Heaven and conjugated with women upon the Earth before the Great Flood. In fact, if you look at ancient hieroglyphs in certain pyramids, then they show how these beings looked with animal heads and human bodies. Hinduism also uses the same concept.
Also, around half the people that are pet owners say that they love their pets more than they love other people. We are not even going to get into what sheepherders be doing on lonely nights.
22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
We all know that incest is wrong. However, DNA-based testing has shown that one out of every 7,000 people currently living in the US was born out of a relationship between immediate relatives.
23 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
24 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Domestic violence statistics in the US are absolutely atrocious.
25 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Around 1 out of every 50 murders in the world are contract killings.
26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
A person that does not commit to doing lawful things is a person that is cursed.
Now, we all have a guide on what we should not do.
